Latest Things

Happy Friday! Now then, let’s get right to it!

High Strangeness:
A before and after view of the latest re-inked page.

Quick Sketches:
These are complimentary sketches for buyers of my original art over at my eBay store. I don’t even recall the name of the character on the left, but I had every intention of finishing his story way back in 1998 or so. Like so many concepts, this one died on the vine.

Art Book:
The Art of Scott Reed ebook has undergone a major update, with new cover, intro and many additional pieces of art from the before times of 1988-1992. As I explain in the intro to the book, this is a work-in-progress that Tier 3 & 4 members can download at any time. My plan is to eventually publish a nice coffee table sized print edition once Volume 1 is complete.

Final Completed Art of 2024

Here we are in a new year, but I’m posting my final illustrations of 2024. I’m also including my sketch homage to the classic D&D art featured in the 1st edition books. My plan is to gradually revisit all of those great little drawings and re-interpret them. Even though it’s a fun project, these efforts are for my Etsy shop, as showcased examples of my commissioned sketches.

I’m also sharing the sketch cards I included recently sold original art. These are quick doodles but I like to include them as a thank you note to buyers. You can browse my current listings at my eBay store. I typically add new art and comics every week, so I hope you’ll check it out.

Happy New Year!

Unpublished Malibu Comics page 1993. Also, Happy Holidays!

When I was working on-staff at Malibu Comics as an inker, I was also trying to sharpen my penciling skills on the side. This is one of those efforts, part of a planned submissions package to the editors there. I think I drew 5 or 6 pages, but this seems to be the only one to have survived. In all likelihood I discarded the others in the sequence. I knew at the time I didn’t really have the chops yet to pencil a book, and these samples kind of proved that. But I kept at it.

I’m posting this a little earlier in the week, since my usual publishing schedule here falls on Thursdays and Fridays. I’ll be offline and away from my studio during that time, enjoying the holidays as I hope you will too.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! Thank you all for your continued support of my Patreon. I can’t wait to show you what’s in store for the year ahead.
