Here’s two partially inked pages I’m working on this week. The Conan piece is a gigantic 13″x19″, traditionally inked at my drafting table. The High Strangeness page is digitally inked and I’m about 90% finished with. You can visit my livestream recording to see the Conan page taking shape.
Creating Comics: Livestream Thursday May 23 at 10:30am (EST)
I’ll be traditionally inking an illustration by Jack Kirby, so get ready for some Kirby Krackle…with a sword! This is a piece that I had begun digitally but decided it deserved the Windsor-newton brush treatment on paper instead of pixels. See you then!
The Overman: The Collected Edition FIRST LOOK
Just a quick flip-through of my printers proof which just arrived in the mail today. Excited to share this because The Overman has been out of print for a number of years and will be available again soon! I’ll share details soon on the release date.
Layouts for Saga of a Doomed Universe II
If you missed this mornings livestream where I sketched out these pages, you’re in luck because I’m sharing them here. These are very loose, very rough layouts that help me determine the over-all composition of a page as well as the balloon placements. This stage of creating comics is actually the toughest because it involves a lot of problem solving and referencing the script to make sure all the necessary information is on the page.
New Poster Art & Character Designs
I’ve added never-before-seen concept designs for a few of the character from Saga of a Doomed Universe, plus poster art from Hark. The characters were drawn sometime in 2004 or 2005 and underwent quite a few alterations over the years. I still like these designs though and may integrate them into the sequel I’m currently working on. The Hark illustration is from issue 2 and is a double page splash.
