I finished inking the first two pages of SOADU II this week and here’s a high res of that double-page spread. I actually ended up inking this spread twice because my first attempt I was experimenting with a much looser style in the spirit of Klaus Janson but I just couldn’t get the results I was envisioning. So I scrapped that and re-inked it, adhering to the same style as the first issue. As much as I like the idea of ‘evolving’ the art throughout each issue, it’s a risky concept because consistency is important for a mini-series and I’m already pushing my luck a bit by having black and white art combined with instances of full color. Who knows, maybe when I finish entire project I’ll make some creative adjustments, if inspiration strikes (and I have time for such finessing).
Page 10 is obviously a work in progress, I’m still figuring out the placement of the panel scenes and figures. The idea is that there is a growing cacophony of exchanges between the various villains seated around the table, with SickNess finally snapping and telling them all to shut up. But as you can see, my lettering placement is a bit wonky at the moment. I’ll be fixing things.
I didn’t do the livestream today because I had a ton of work commitments, but plan to do so tomorrow. So look for an email notification about that, hope to see you there!
