I’m sharing a few archived pieces of art this week, including:
1. Unpublished art from my time at Malibu Comics (1995) featuring Rune and characters from the comic Strangers. I believe the single character drawing is by Rick Hoberg and probably inked by Tim Eldred.
2. A preliminary sketch for the original High Strangeness cover (1998)
3. A mixed media painting for High Strangeness (1998) which was never used in print. I’ll likely include both of these in the Redux edition.
4. A cover wrap for a reprint of High Strangeness from 2009.
5. A scan of a comic lettering sound effect font that I had hand-drawn and converted to a font file back in 1998 or so. Back in those early days of digital lettering, I dabbled in creating my own custom lettering fonts. I lost interest because it was very tedious work. The first font foundries were emerging at that time as well, so I stopped creating my own fonts and simply used what was available from studios like Comic Craft and Blambot.
6. New Art! I finished inking the latest pages from Secret Powers #2 this week.
